A Little Off the Top

In the old days, men in barber shops perused girlie magazines. But at LaPorsha's Hair Studio in Charlotte, N.C., customers are invited to take as many condoms from the jar on the counter as they wish. “I want them to know, if you're doing it, be careful,” says shop owner Tom Jacobs. Every hour, he plays a video tape about the danger of unprotected sex. He says customers pay close attention. Customer Jimmy Wiggins agrees it's a good tactic. “The barber shop is the kind of place where the guys come in and talk about what's really happening in their lives,” Wiggins said. “It's not like church where you hold back a bit. We really let it all hang out here.” (AP) ...At least until it's clipped off.
