This is True

All We Need is Love

The Gimli Early Middle School outside Winnipeg, Man., Canada, has banned students from hugging because, Principal Donna Kormilo says, the hugging situation was “getting out of hand.” Instead, she ruled, students who want to show support to each other should instead pat others on the back, shake hands, or give “high fives.” Parents Terry and Cindy Lacosse took exception to the no hugs rule and publicly complained. Area residents have rallied their support — against the Lacosses. The couple says other residents are making “menacing comments,” the school board superintendent said the couple had done “a disservice to the school and community,” and some suggest the family should “move back to where they came from.” Mr. Lacosse says the family is indeed considering moving away from the town.
