British gardeners take their sport seriously. With grass in town browned by a severe heat wave, officials in Stroud, England, knew they’d have trouble winning the “Britain in Bloom” competition. So, with just hours to spare before judges were due to arrive, they sprayed the parched grass with green dye. “I was gobsmacked when I saw what they were doing,” one local said. “I think it’s bloody ridiculous.” But one of the organizers noted “the Britain in Bloom competition has rules against artificial flowers, but I don’t think it says anything about dyed grass.” (Reuters) ...I’m sure all of us are gobsmacked by this turn of events.
