Aw, Chute

D’Marc Lee, 23, faced life in prison under California’s “three strikes and you’re out” law after his conviction for carjacking. While awaiting sentencing, he escaped through a hole he kicked in the wall of his Santa Monica courthouse cell. But he didn’t get far: he was unable to get out of the building's ventilation system. Sheriff deputies, who saw him slip through the hole in the wall, evacuated the building and turned off the air conditioning. They searched for him using dogs, motion detectors, and infrared scopes. After more than 24 hours, Lee, who had stripped naked to keep cool, was found and recaptured. He now faces charges of escape. (UPI) ...The county is appealing its fine for inadequate “Exit” signs in the building.
