bullet  GOOHF: A Major Milestone

This is True has hit a major milestone. You are of course aware of my "Get Out of Hell Free" cards, my response to a reader telling me I am going to hell. I've mentioned from time to time that they sell really well, which says something about society (like "Thank you, but I have my own fine morals and I don't need some drama queen to tell me that her warped 'I'm-sleeping-with-my-pastor' morality is better than mine.") But I've never really said how well they sell. I'm going to now:

We've now sold a million cards. And by "sold", I mean it: that number doesn't count the many thousands I've given away, and doesn't count the newer plastic cards, t-shirts, stickers, or other GOOHF items.

Of course, I'm doing something to commemorate that milestone: I had a limited edition (of 5,000) moving image "lenticular" GOOHF postcards made. When you tilt the card back, Uncle Pennybags actually leaps over the fiery pit of hell. They're absolutely wonderful! And I won't be getting any more of this version made when this 5,000 are gone. Worse, 10 percent are already gone: I sent 500 out to pop culture and human interest feature reporters as a sort of press release. They started arriving today, so no surprise I'm doing an hour on a national pop culture radio show tonight.

The postcards were quite expensive to make, but I knew they'd be really eye-catching (perfect not only as a fun product, but also for getting the attention of wary pop culture reporters!) There's even a Flash movie of the card in action at the Million Cards Sold Celebration page, which also tells the full true story of the GOOHF cards.
