If the chance arises, the Peninsula was (is?) a grand hotel in the British style. We went for a buffet, and the amount of food they spread out was incredible (the more so, considering the hungry people/refugees in British HK (this was about 1980).

My feeling was that HK was a great place to live if you had money, under the Brits; it was Hell if you didn't.
