My New Project: Mastermind Source
I'm finally ready to unveil my new project. I've said I'm going to reveal the secret to my business success so that others might learn from it and be more successful too. Thus, I said, it's obviously "quite a departure from funny stuff or social commentary". It's not something that only works for online businesses, or even just entrepreneurs. Weekly Weird News In brief, here's the secret: for more than 11 years now, I have had several dozen of the top experts in my business sector ("online") who freely lend me their expertise. They suggest solutions for any business problems I have, enlighten me about new ways to do business, alert me to the upcoming trends in their areas of specific expertise, and much, much more. Anytime I have a question or a problem, I send an e-mail to the group, and anyone with an opinion or suggestion replies. For long-term, truly in-depth strategy building, we get together in person twice a year, and about a dozen members of the group give presentations to the rest of us about what's new, and spell out exactly how to do what they're telling us about. (At many conferences, you get a sales pitch. Here, we get the actual meat of what's actually working for them. And if we have problems or questions later, after we've all gone home? Well, we go back to the e-mail list and ask.) And here's the best, most amazing part: they don't charge me for all of this help, which has added hugely to my bottom line over those 11 years (easily hundreds of thousands of dollars). In fact, I'm almost embarrassed to say that they insist on paying me very, very well to be in my group, which I started and still lead, because they all get the very same thing that I do, which adds hundreds of thousands (in several cases, millions) to their bottom lines. When I started the group, I didn't even have a name for such a thing. I "invented" the idea for my own purposes, but I was far from the first to do so: they're called "Mastermind groups". I've also since learned that it's rare for such a group to still exist, let alone thrive, after a decade. I've done a lot of things right to make it work so well. (The current group is actually my second one: I learned a lot from my first one, which failed after a few years.) Intriguing, isn't it? Of course, explaining how to create a successful Mastermind group would take more than a few paragraphs. It takes a big new project, with its own web site and a "home study" e-mail "course" that lays out what I've done so you can think about how you might do it too. I'm actually not even done writing the course, which already has more than a dozen absorb-in-one-sitting articles which explain various aspects of the idea. The best part (for you): the e-mail course is free. In fact, I don't even have ads on the web site, and I won't be selling ad space in the e-mails, either. This isn't about making a few cents per click from people coming to the site just to click an ad and go away. This is about making the world a better place by helping people be more successful. I don't believe there's a finite amount of success in the world -- that if someone has success, someone else will lack it. It's not a matter of "luck", either: I believe with the right knowledge and some hard work, anyone can be more successful than they are now. So, please don't sign up for it to "support me". Please only sign up if you truly want to learn, and are willing to spend the time and work required to succeed. "Success" doesn't have to be money, either. One of my main goals in life was to live how and where I wanted -- in a quiet, rural area (my specific dream actually included a 40 acre lot on a dirt road), with mountain views, no traffic, a slower pace of life, etc. My group helped me get there (though I actually have 45 acres). The photo in the header of the new web site is part of the view from my office, so you get a hint of what I mean. Start here: Mastermind Source One aside: when dropping hints about this, I said the project would probably not be of interest to retired folks. I was reminded that one of the members of my group was nearly 70 when he joined. It wasn't until he retired from his Day Job (he had a successful professional aerospace career) that he truly engaged with the group, had an "ah ha!" moment, and ended up making more money from his "part time" online venture than from both of his big corporation pension checks combined! Yes, he had to work at it, but he was having fun! While the money was nice, he didn't really "need" it: the satisfaction he got was his definition of "success". So even if you're retired, you may still be interested. Either way, wouldn't you like your kids or grandkids to have the advantage I have? Feel free to send them the URL. Thanks! Blog Updates

Thank you, Randy! I just recently lost my job and have been agonizing over the next step. I will admit I have said to myself a few times "when I grow up I want to be like Randy Cassingham", and now you've told me how. This is definitely something that I will look into right away and, with thousands (millions?) of people unemployed in Canada and the US (not to mention the world) you chose the right time to unveil this.
I've done something similar to this for a Toastmasters project I worked on years ago, but not knowing how was my biggest hurdle. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on how.

Kudos to you, Randy, for creating Mastermind Source.
Since I stopped working for others in 1991 at the ripe old age of 51, I have created four successful businesses, and continue to operate the last two of them in what I laughingly refer to as my 'retirement.'
I am looking forward to reading your articles. Who knows,I might want to start another one!
