bullet  Separated by a Common Language

It's been 27(!) years since I was in England, but I vowed "I shall return" and I'll be wading ashore in mid October. As some of you know, I'm writing a book for the True Stella Awards about the loss of common sense in our civil courts, and I think there's no better way to see how our court system got started than to visit the place where Anglo Saxon Common Law began.

I haven't set my itinerary yet, but I'll mostly be in London where I'll be sitting down over a pint with local solicitors and others involved in their developing lawsuit craze to chat about things in the cradle of the western legal system.

While in London I hope to do my first overseas Reader Gathering. As I get my dates nailed down I will announce when and where. True will of course continue as usual. In fact, I hope to write a special British Edition once I get hold of the local papers! :-)

I indeed was able to produce an all-British-story edition out of newspapers from that trip. It was quite fun.

I hope your all-British story contained all-British spelling (humour, colour, etc) :-)

(I've not kept the back issues so I can't check)

I only use Brit spellings in written quotes -- and I do that all the time, not just in special issues. -rc
