It "only" took two years and a rather large stack of small, unmarked bills, but "This is True" is finally registered as a trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. My trademark. :-)
Weekly Weird News
To celebrate, we're changing our web site address from freecom.com (short for our company name, Freelance Communications) to a new domain name based on our title: http://www.thisistrue.com.
I had been "Trademarked Out of a Title" in April of 1995, so when I changed it, I made sure I'd be the undisputed owner of my own title. Nothing says that better than "®"!
I figured it would be difficult to get much money for the freecom.com domain, but I started looking around and discovered quite a few companies named "Freelance Communications" -- and at least one called Freecom. I sold it to the latter for more than I had hoped to get, thanks to more than one company wanting the domain.
