Nevada’s Mustang Ranch is arguably the most famous brothel in the world. When the 440-acre ranch near Reno opened for business in 1955, prostitution was illegal, but it went legitimate in 1971 as the state’s first modern legal bawdy house. Last summer, however, the federal government seized the property after its owners were found guilty of fraud and racketeering. The feds, not wanting to run a bordello, evicted the callgirls. The Bureau of Land Management has announced plans to turn it into a real ranch, and the home of its Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Center.
