The Nevada Department of Transportation has vetoed the plans of the town of Mesquite for a “running of the bulls,” patterned after the running in Pamplona, Spain, to help bring in tourists. “The applicants had indicated that 12 bulls would chase 1,000 people through the main road of Mesquite in front of 5,000 spectators,” said a DOT spokesman. “It’s our decision that a state highway should not be used for a risky event such as this.” (AP) ...Perhaps a more American version: 1,000 snorting voters chasing 100 politicians in front of a cheering TV audience of millions.
