The Myrtle Beach, S.C., fire department must come up with a different way to raise funds to purchase a new fire truck, City Manager Tom Leath has ruled. For four years now, firefighters have raised money with a “ham rubbing” — women dance on a stage while their breasts are rubbed with a ham. When Leath found out about it, he ordered the $2,400 raised this year returned to the donors. “I guarantee this will be the last ham rubbing they have for the fire department,” he said. “That’s not a way we need to raise money.” (AP) ...Where there’s smoked ham, there’s fire.
