Circus Circus II

An acrobat with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus fell 26 feet to the floor in front of an audience in Richmond, Va., and was severely injured. Walfer Guerrero, 28, was a fifth-generation circus performer. Performance director David Kiser explained that there was no net to break Guerrero’s fall. “The performers don’t like to use a net because then in their minds it’s OK to fall,” he said. “And they never want that to be OK.” (AP) ...Wasn’t that same argument used — and rejected — in about 1956 as a reason to not wear seatbelts when driving?
