This is True

Close to Her Heart

Connie Potter found an opossum that had been hit by a car in Manchester, Conn., and — as a concerned animal lover — checked the marsupial’s pouch. Sure enough, there was a 2-inch-long baby inside, still alive. But where to keep the tiny critter for several weeks until it could survive on its own? She plopped it into her bra. Potter only lets it out to eat — and to attend to that other call of nature. The only time it has been a problem was in a grocery store, when a clerk noticed her shirt was moving. “I have a possum in my shirt,” she explained. (AP) ...It was either that, or she was glad to see him.
