This is True

Common Law

David Hoare, 40, had been admitted to a hospital mental ward in Leicester, England, but doctors concluded he was not a threat to others and released him. Hoare, perhaps wanting to prove the doctors wrong, stabbed a stranger, Dianne Moore, 35, to death. Now convicted for killing the woman and confined to a high security mental hospital, Hoare sued the first hospital, contending they should not have let him out. He has been awarded a rumored 30,000 pounds in an out-of-court settlement. (Reuters) ...America inherited many of its laws from the English. Apparently, they’re getting some of our newer legal ideas in exchange.
