A worker in Shanghai, China, identified only as Zhang, bet a friend a round of drinks that the explosives used by the construction industry were not particularly powerful. Zhang sat on a basket atop a stone which was placed over several detonators and lit them off. With the ensuing explosion, “the stone plate, the basket and his rear end all went up in smoke,” press accounts say. Doctors say it will be “some time” before Zhang will be able to walk normally.
