A Canadian woman is fighting charges that she is a madam of a bawdy house. Terri-Jean Bedford, 39, says her business, Madame de Sade’s House of Erotica in Thornhill, Ont., cannot be a house of prostitution because she doesn’t have sex with her clients. Rather, she says, she’s a dominatrix offering sadomasochistic services that do not involve intercourse. “I don’t believe having a dominatrix sit on a throne and you kiss her feet could be properly characterized as sex,” argues her lawyer, Alan Young.
