The state of Maine’s Supreme Judicial Court has upheld a $40,000 award to a golfer who was hit by her own ball. Jeannine Pelletier’s drive bounced off nearby railroad tracks — which are visible from the tee — and hit her in the face. The court ruled that despite the fact the Fort Kent Golf Club did not own the tracks, “the club’s duty extends to land which it has invited golfers to use.” (AP) ...These lawsuits are getting out of hand. Someone should sue to stop them.
