Britain's Department for International Development has issued a report that calls for “more compelling” television news coverage of developing countries because viewers are “turned off” by a constant stream of Third World “disasters, bizarre events or visits by prominent westerners.” This leaves people with a serious problem with the “understanding of development issues,” says the report, Viewing the World.
