Go Ahead, Make My Day

The governor of Ohio has been fined $1,500 by the Federal Aviation Administration for ordering his pilot to take off despite a flight ban in effect because President Clinton was visiting nearby. Gov. George Voinovich himself spoke to the control tower over the plane’s radio, and was told the Secret Service’s “no-fly order” would be in effect until the president left. “I’m going to tell them to go screw themselves, OK,” the governor told the tower. “If they don’t like it, fine. They can shoot us down.” (AP) ...Considering Voinovich is a possible vice presidential candidate under Dole, Clinton may try to exercise that shoot-down option later.
