Ten exotic dancers from Club Juana Cocktail Lounge in Orlando, Fla., wanted to make a difference in their community. They put on a topless carwash, hidden in tents in the bar’s parking lot, and raised $3,500 for breast cancer research. However, when it came time to turn the money over, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center refused the donation. The method used to raise funds “doesn’t fit our ethical standards,” sniffed an M.D. Anderson spokesman. The dancers next tried the Orlando Metro Unit of the American Cancer Society, but were turned down there, too. They finally found a taker, the Women’s Center for Radiology, where the funds will pay for mammograms for women who can’t afford the tests. Dancer Stephanie Morris put it in perspective: “Our hearts are in the right place.” (AP) ...Yes, we could see that through our windshields.
