Gray Lady Down

Calle has tuberculosis, but refuses to take her medicine. Calle, 30, an Asian elephant at the San Francisco Zoo, spat out her TB medicine even when it was hidden in cookies, bread, or sherbet. Zookeepers finally called in Berkeley pharmacist John Garcia, who specializes in concocting special medications. His prescription: two-pound cocoa butter suppositories. The medicine must be administered daily for two months, then three times a week for 10 months. It takes four handlers to administer each $800, ten-inch suppository. “It’s not a pretty sight,” a zoo spokeswoman said. (Bay City News) ...Forget the $154,000 for the suppositories. How much do they have to pay the handlers?
