This is True

Home Run

In 1956, Nick George Montos became the first man ever to be on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted” list twice, and has been running from the law for nine years. But the fugitive met his match: Sonia Paine, the 73-year-old owner of an antique shop he tried to rob. Montos, 78, had tied Paine up and was ripping the store off when she was able to break free, trip an alarm, and hit Montos over the head with a baseball bat. “I don’t take any crap from anybody,” Paine said. “I beat the hell out of him.” It wasn’t an easy struggle: she hit him three times, but he was able to get the bat and hit her, and he sprayed her with tear gas before she was able to get the upper hand. Paine, who is from Poland, likes the U.S. “What a beautiful country, but filled with a lot of awful people, honey.” (AP) ...Not all of us, sweetheart. Not all of us.
