I Knew That

When Bill Clinton received a gift of a Romanian flag, he saw it had a big hole in the middle. The hole is symbolic: the Communist emblem that used to be in the middle of the banner had been hacked out to symbolize the 1989 revolt that brought the country to democracy. The confused president sent a note to Romania thanking them for the “poncho”. White House spin doctors claimed the leader of the free world was merely “joking” with his “light-hearted comment.” Meanwhile, according to a Gallup poll 53 percent of British citizens do not know the United States used to be a British colony. Just 40 percent demonstrated they knew the fact. (AP, 2) ...Apparently, the other seven percent think the U.S. is still a colony.
