This is True

I Know You Are, But What Am I?

Earl Kaufmann runs a tattoo parlor in Tucson, Ariz. Calling his body an artist’s canvas, it’s 80 percent covered in tattoos. But when a competing shop made a less-than-veiled reference to him as a “Scary Guy” in a newspaper ad, Kaufmann didn’t get mad, he turned it to his advantage. He legally changed his name to “The Scary Guy”, resulting in huge press coverage. “It’s an ironic name change, because he’s not scary,” says his wife, Judy. “He’s the sweetest guy you’ll ever know.” (AP) ...Easy for you to say, Judy, considering your name is now “Mrs. Scary Guy”.
