Police in Upper Marlboro, Md., didn't have many good options when confronted with the case of a 91-year-old man barricaded in his house with a shotgun. They found his 59-year-old nephew dead outside, so they knew he was serious. They just weren't sure what about, since he suffers from dementia and was “incoherent”. Worse, tear gas didn't faze him a bit. Police ended the siege 31 hours later with a robot, which knocked the unnamed man off his feet and allowed officers to rush in and take him into custody.
