The staff of England’s Southampton General Hospital went into a panic when patient Malcolm Storey, 43, went missing. Storey, recovering from a car crash, was being treated for a broken spine, pelvis, arm and nose when he disappeared. The alert was canceled when Storey was found in his favorite pub, two miles away, apparently still in his hospital bed, where friends had wheeled him. “Patients being wheeled out into the gardens in their beds is not unusual in the summer, but we are looking at how the next step happened,” a hospital spokesman said.
