It’s Clever, But is it Art?

State Farm Fire and Casualty wants its money back. The insurer sold a policy to Lucio Ambroselli to cover several expensive works of art, including two paintings, allowing photographs of the paintings to be submitted as proof of ownership. Three weeks later, Ambroselli reported the artwork stolen and collected $410,000 in damages. The problem? State Farm says their investigations show the photographs were taken in the Vatican Art Museum, where the paintings have hung for centuries, and not in Ambroselli’s California home — where the other artworks were found in a police search. Ambroselli has been arrested and faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. (AP) ...Who knew insurance investigators could afford to vacation in Europe?
