This is True

It was a Bird. No, a Plane. No, it was Chicken Little

“Meteorite impact... Does space have more in store?” demanded a panicky German newspaper. A police helicopter crew had discovered a 20-meter-wide hole blasted in the countryside outside Andechs and, after ruling out an airplane crash, declared it a meteor impact. An “expert” from Munich’s city observatory fed the panic by estimating the meteor weighed 100-200 kg, and another astronomer called it “the first major comet impact in Bavaria.” But no one saw it streak out of the sky. Further police inquiry found a more Earthly explanation: the man that owned the cratered land had hired a demolition expert to blast an artificial lake on his property as the centerpiece of a private wildlife refuge. “We’re not quite sure who to blame for this one yet,” an embarrassed police spokesman said. (Reuters) ...Have some guts: take the blame yourself.
