When Saul Solis, a fifth-grader at Reagan Elementary School in Abilene, Texas, brought up his grades, his mother rewarded him with a “Tarzan” T-shirt. He proudly wore it to school, but Principal Alan Lockett banned the shirt because other students made “inappropriate comments” about the cartoon character wearing a loin cloth. “It’s impossible to make a complete list of what you can and cannot wear” at school, said School Superintendent Charles Hundley in backing the principal.
