Customs agents in France seized more than 5,000 hats emblazoned with American sports team emblems after realizing they were counterfeit. “They had the names of American basketball or hockey teams on them with the initials NFL’ [National Football League] written above, and vice versa,” a French customs service spokesman said. They also nabbed 30,000 counterfeit “Barbie” watches when agents realized that the watch hadn’t been made by the official manufacturer for more than five years.
