With the “mad cow” scare in full force, the Europe-wide ban on British cows has left many farmers strapped for cash and wondering what to do with their herds. Harry Goode says his idea to make ends meet “is a bit of a gimmick, but an interesting one.” He’s selling advertising space on the side of his cows, which graze near Birmingham. Passing motorists are the audience; Goode has already sold eight ads, charging 300 pounds (US$450) per week for the cow placards. “They are losing money while they are feeding so they might as well start paying for their upkeep,” Goode said.
