This is True

Monk-y Business

Monk Kung Bunchhoeun, 22, has been expelled from his order because he couldn’t resist singing. He was caught sneaking out of his Phnom Penh, Cambodia, temple at night to go to karaoke bars. “His conduct violates Buddhist discipline,” his abbot complained. Meanwhile, another 22-year-old monk is in trouble for nearly the same reason. Kong Bun Chhoeun was singing along with a popular song playing on the radio. A student in his temple complained the noise was bothering his studies. That led to a fist fight with the monk, who then stabbed the student. “We are waiting for him to be defrocked and if he refuses to pay the student compensation, we’ll take him to court,” a police spokesman said. The student, who was only slightly injured, is demanding 100,000 riel ($26) for his injury. (Reuters, AP) ...“Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.” —Psalms 149:5.
