Prosecutors in Findlay, Ohio, have dropped felony wiretap charges against Judy Weising. Concerned that her daughter had fallen in with a bad crowd, she installed an automatic tape recorder on the telephone line to see what her daughter was up to. Her estranged husband found the equipment and called police. The charges were dropped after pleas from all concerned: the woman, her husband, her daughter, and the judge himself. Weising said that “parental responsibilities supersede your child’s rights in certain instances, especially if you feel that their safety is at stake.” She had faced a $5,000 fine and two years in prison. (AP) ...As long as she wasn’t smoking ants, we’re no longer concerned.
