Children lined up to see Father Christmas in a holiday parade in Great Yarmouth, England, burst into tears as police arrested Pere Noel and hauled him away. “It was extremely upsetting for the young children to see Santa being nicked and handcuffed,” a police spokesman said, but they had to do it. Santa “was being quite aggressive and he had to be controlled. He was certainly not being very jolly.” The trouble started when a spectator became irate at the Santa, a costumed street vendor, because he was selling presents from his sack, rather than giving them away, leading to a “brawl” between the two men.
