The venerable Frederick's of Hollywood, known for its risque lingerie, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Discount chains have grabbed half the underwear market, and Frederick's upscale competitor Victoria's Secret has nearly 20 times as much sales volume as Fredericks, started in 1946 in New York.
