Obscene and Not Heard

The fundamentalist Jamaat-i-Islami party in Pakistan is demanding that women not be depicted in advertisements in that country. “Showing women in print and electronic advertisements is vulgar and must be banned,” demanded party spokeswoman Atya Nisar, noting that the move “is part of our countrywide campaign against exploitation in the name of liberalism or rights for women.” (AFP) ...Leading to the bizarre ad tagline, “Stay Free Maxipads — strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.”
