This is True

Of Towering Import

The Archer City, Texas, city council spent $13,000 to repaint the town water tower to cover graffiti, and another $1,000 to install security bars to keep vandals from defacing the new paint job. “Now, if any kids climb up there, we’re going to give them a spanking,” a councilman said. It didn’t take long before a message was spray-painted on the clean tower: “You must give us a spanking.” Meanwhile, residents of Sussex, Wisc., are upset that painters lettering in the name of the town on their water tower started from the right — and quit for the day after painting “SEX” on the tower. About six people complained, said village administrator Chris Swartz. “They were asking how they could explain it to their children if they asked.” (AP) ...The fools missed a great opportunity to explain to their children that water is an important, satisfying part of life.
