San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown was not pleased when the San Francisco 49ers football team lost in overtime to the Dallas Cowboys. Brown especially criticized relief quarterback Elvis Grbac: “This guy Grbac is an embarrassment to humankind,” Brown said. “After that interception and that bonehead intellectual breakdown in the last game against Dallas... he can’t play in any stadium that I’m going to assist to be built.” Grbac said later he was not ready to play as he was distracted by concern over his 9-month-old son, who is suffering from spina bifida and had recently had surgery. “There’s other things more important than football at times,” Grbac explained.
