OveraccessorizedBettie Phillips, 54, of Hiddenite, N.C., “adopted” a two-month-old fawn she says she found on the side of a road. Police were tipped off that the deer’s ears had been pierced, and it was wearing earrings. The fawn was turned over to a wildlife center, which treated its ears for infection. Phillips has been charged with animal cruelty for the piercings, for which she didn’t volunteer an explanation, and with illegally possessing wildlife. (AP) ...Remember: to legally pierce a deer, you need a license and you must do it from a sporting distance.
