Three “separatists” in Texas have gone on trial after being arrested in a bizarre plot to murder President Clinton and other high-ranking government officials. Jack Grebe, 43, Oliver Emigh, 63, and John Wise, 72, all identified as members of the “Republic of Texas”, allegedly plotted to spread the virus that causes AIDS, rabies, anthrax and botulism on cactus thorns, which would then be shot at victims using modified cigarette lighters. “The cactus thorn was biodegradable,” an informant explained. “It wouldn’t show up on an x-ray.” The charge against the trio: conspiracy to kill government officials with “weapons of mass destruction”.
