Zoo authorities in China are concerned over the dwindling population of pandas. “The real problem is that many pandas do not know how to mate,” says Zhang Hemin, director of the China Giant Panda Research and Conservation Center in Sichuan. It doesn’t help that 60–80 percent of the males are impotent, making it hard to impregnate females. He’s considering giving pandas Viagra as a “last resort,” but that may not be enough, he says. “As part of the pandas’ education, we make those which are sexually inept watch videos of other pandas having sex.” (AFP, Reuters) ...Perhaps implausibly, pandering to persnickety impotent Pandas with pills and porn will possibly improve pregnancy percentages. Imprudent? Probably, unless public perceives progress.
