British scientists say they’re working on a “Soul-Catcher” memory chip which would record human memories and thoughts, and expect it to be working within 30 years. “With these chips, we wouldn’t have to rely on holiday snaps and our memories, we could simply play our experiences back to each other,” says Chris Winter, head of British Telecom’s artificial life team. “By combining this information with a record of a person’s genes, we could recreate a person physically, emotionally and spiritually,” he said. “This is the end of death — immortality in the truest sense.” (Reuters) ...People don’t want immortality by computer.
