Pet Tricks

Lightning started a fire in their attic at 4:00 am, but the sleeping Rosevelt and Linda Matthews of New Bern, N.C., ignored their dog’s alerting barks. So “Roc” rang the doorbell. “We didn’t know the house was on fire until we answered the door,” Linda said. The house was destroyed, but the family escaped safely. Meanwhile, a Tampa, Fla., cat which was choking on its collar ran to the telephone and dialed 911. “Tipper” was rescued by a sheriff’s deputy who responded to the emergency call, and is doing fine. Last, Faye Murrell, also of Tampa, worked for nine months to teach her cat Tessa to eat at the table with a knife and fork, which are attached to her paws with Velcro wrist straps. Murrell missed having family dinners at the table now that her children have grown up and moved away. (AP, 3) ...I think I’d be very, very afraid of my cat if he knew how to use a knife.
