Instead, they accidentally selected Joel Vega, a left-handed pitcher from Ohio Dominican College. “Everybody makes a mistake,” Cardinals scouting director Ed Creech said after the error was scored. “It’s a little bit embarrassing. No, not a little, a lot embarrassing. I feel sorry for the scout, for the kid we didn’t get, for a lot of people.” (AP) ...Not to mention Joel, and the entire state of Ohio.
