This is True

Pressed for a Confession

Police in Chattanooga, Tenn., didn’t have much to go on after a string of three bank robberies, but witnesses noticed his clothes were getting better — for the third heist, the robber wore a nice black shirt with a white pinstripe. Then an employee at Champion Cleaners was checking a shirt turned in for cleaning. It was black with a white pinstripe ...and had a holdup note stashed in the pocket. Police traced the shirt to Terrance Levar Starkey, 23, who was arrested at his home where a search found $3,524 in cash, another note written on similar paper, and a dry cleaner’s bag. “Starkey admitted he spent this money obtained in the bank robbery on clothes, rental cars and partying in hotels,” said police investigator Matthew Hennessee. (Chattanooga Times/Free Press) ...And forevermore, Hennessee will regale his children with the tale of his most memorable collar.
