Prices are Heating Up

The Coca-Cola Co. is testing vending machines that can automatically raise prices when the weather gets hotter. When demand for a cold drink rises because of heat, “it is fair that it should be more expensive,” argues Coke chairman M. Douglas Ivester. But company spokesman Rob Baskin, asked if customers might object to such price rises, insists the company will not be using such machines “anytime soon, if ever,” adding “You could probably make a vending machine that could fly, too, but I don’t think we would do that.” (AP) ...Unless that would increase their profit by a penny a can.
