Rat-a-Tat Tenements

The District of Columbia police force has shut down one of its firing ranges after a “training mishap” resulted in 12 houses and three cars being riddled with stray bullets. The special training had officers lying on their backs and shooting up at targets with sub-machine guns at a range designed for shotgun training. The outdoor range, at the Lorton Correctional Facility in Lorton, Va., was a mile from the peppered houses. Chief Charles Ramsey closed the range permanently after determining that “Open-air live-fire ranges and populated residential areas simply do not mix.” (AP) ...Local residents likely could have explained that even before their houses were shot up.
