A Hong Kong newspaper columnist is seeking 100 people who will agree to be handcuffed to each other in pairs for 24 hours on June 30. Nury Vittachi says his “hands across the border” project will symbolically demonstrate the tighter linking of the cultures of Hong Kong and China as the island is released from British rule. “I’ve been asking for volunteers,” he said. “The couples involved, who must never have slept together, have to find sponsors. I thought the response would come mostly from the younger, wilder types. But it’s the older, married [people] who seem keener on this.” (Reuters) ...It’s just getting so hard to find 100 younger, wilder types who have never slept together.
