Roughing It

Chris Wearstler, 21, had gone out for a four-day hike in Washington’s Olympic National Park, but got lost when he went looking for water. After nine days, long out of food and water, he heard flutes and bagpipes and walked toward them. “I thought there was a music festival in the woods,” he said later. “I was on my way to the festival.” There was no music, but he managed to walk into the arms of rescuers out looking for him. “He was apparently beginning to hallucinate,” park ranger Curt Sauer said. Wearstler said other than getting lost, he enjoyed his trip. “If I would have had food, it would have been a really cool experience,” he said. (AP) ...Kind of like everyday life in the Third World.
